Playground Designer Layout Filled With Great Equipment Pieces

By Shelly Clayton

Small children and toddlers learn every skill they will need to develop healthy strong bodies when playing. Many of these skills are learnt on challenging and innovative equipment placed in open public areas by an innovative Playground Designer.

Their unique thinking and know-how on the various apparatus available will be put to the test when planning the perfect playground. Things such as ensuring that equipment allows for development of large and small muscles and that a park contains the full spectrum of swings, climbing and playing areas.

Equipment that works in a series or sections and requires mental and physical skill is popular with older children. Planning a circuit is important as the entire body should be used when playing and not only arms or legs getting exercise.

To ensure that all the muscles receive a workout whilst playing the activities need to be varied and extensive. Creating a play circuit to encourage the use of legs and arms is important.

Various age appropriate areas need to be clearly marked. A two year old will have great difficulty doing what a five year old is capable of. Suspension type apparatus is not suitable for tiny tots.

One common and most enjoyed spot for small children of all ages is a sandpit. Congregating in and playing together in a pit teaches them so many of life's skills. They learn most importantly to share, socially interact and how to communicate. Also that working in a team is better than playing on one's own is another lesson very quickly learnt.

A fun thinking innovative playground designer may also include water games, interesting equipment and numerous types of sand areas. For a play area to offer everything any mother could ask for it should also have well shaded playing spots.
