Many people have no idea or lack any time to change the oil on their car so they take it to those quick oil change shops. The question is can these service providers be depended on. In this article, I am going to spotlight why it isn't a great idea to go to these places and why you should find a regular mechanic instead.
I'm sure you already know that every car has certain guidelines about at what time certain services should be done. Things like oil changes, air filter changes along with other routinely scheduled maintenance. Even so have you ever really looked through the guide on your car? One thing is that your manual will not declare that your car will need to have its oil changed every 3000 miles. If you studied your manual, you are going to know that your oil should be changed every 6000 to 7000 miles. So basically these oil change places are being untruthful to you about that.
Also if you examine your owners manual you will find a schedule for changing your air filter. Regarding my car it is recommended to change my air filter every 2 years or when it is clogged. In my circumstance, the air filter still looked pretty good after four years but I opted to change it anyway just in case. But, every time I would head over to these quick oil change places, they'd tell me I would need a new air filter. As a matter of fact, after I had barely changed my air filter, I drove my car to a quick oil change place and they told me that I needed a new air filter. They claimed that the air filtration was starting to discolor which meant that it would start clogging at anytime. After I explained to them it was installed about 6 months ago, they told me that I could probably still use it for another 6 months before it need to be replaced.
The thing I don't understand about that is that at the outset this person told me it needed to be changed. However when I mentioned that the air filter was relatively new, they changed their answer to something else. This is just total dishonesty followed by protecting their butt's.
There's one time where they changed my transmission fluid. Just about every time you visit these places, they will let you know that your transmission fluid will also need to be changed. This one instance I permitted the crooks to do it. And then roughly 3 months later when I went once more for an oil change they told me my transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed. That has been the very last time I ever went to any of those places.
I don't go to these quick oil change places and instead have found a good mechanic to work on my car. One thing that I uncovered is a lot of the employees who work at these quick oil change places are not certified to fix cars, they just know how to con people. Though an authorized mechanic has received the proper education.
